Elizabeth Mary Carlo, was born c.1790 and baptised at St. John’s Church, Parramatta on 21 May 1790. She was the illegitimate daughter of William Carlo, a sailor who came out on the same ship as Elizabeth’s mother Jane Forbes; a convict transported with the Second Fleet per Lady Juliana, later dubbed ‘the floating brothel.’
Elizabeth died less than a year after her baptism and was buried at St. John’s Cemetery, Parramatta on 1 February 1791. Elizabeth’s young mother would soon join her in the same cemetery, as Jane died only four years after her little girl in July 1795 at the age of 22 after falling into a fire as she cooked a meal.
